Trojans downed in FM

FORT MADISON — Fairfield came into Fort Madison on Thursday night looking for their second-straight Southeast Conference win, but the Trojans couldn’t get by the Bloodhounds, who held home court with a 27-25, 13-25, 25-15, 25-16 victory.

Fairfield came into the game 1-0 after beating Washington last week, but the Trojans couldn’t propel themselves to the top of the standings, where the 2-0 Bloodhounds now sit.

Coach Diana Drish said her team had some great volleys and fantastic plays, but that the Trojans committed too many hitting errors.

Anna Dunlap led the squad with 14 kills. Olivia Jones had 11.

Maddie Jones dished out a team-leading 17 assists and also went 13-for-13 serving with five aces. Brynley Allison had 15 assists. Danielle Breen led the Trojans with 22 digs

Maggie Rayburn had a nice night serving as well, going 10-for-10 with three aces. Kiya Robertson was a perfect 15-for-15.

Fairfield is now 1-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Trojans will play at the Ottumwa tournament this Saturday.
