Final boys poll released

/

The Associated Press has released its final poll of the 2020-21 high school boys basketball season for the two largest classes. Last week was the final poll for Classes 1A and 2A.

Class 4A had quite a shake-up and it shook out to three teams tied at No. 5. West Des Moines Valley dropped from second into the tie because of a loss to Des Moines Hoover, which entered the rankings for the first time this season as did Ottumwa. Dubuque Hempstead climbed up into the tie from No. 6, despite a loss. However the loss was to No. 1 Cedar Falls 58-52. Pleasant Valley climbed into the fifth-place tie from seventh.

In 3A, River Valley Conference member Monticello was second for the third consecutive week and had three first-place votes for the second week in a row.

The only change in 3A was the third and fourth place teams swapped spots. Davenport assumption, which defeated Fairfield Monday, was ranked 10th. Former No. 1 Pella, and possible Washington Demon postseason opponent, was fifth.
