Comets drop four-set home game

CARDINAL — The Cardinal volleyball team was back in SEISC South Division play on Tuesday night in a home game against Ft. Madison. The Comets dropped a four-setter to the Falcons, 25-22, 16-25, 25-14, 25-16.

Despite the loss, Cardinal senior Maddie Cloke went off for a team-leading 18 kills in just 35 attempts for a .457 kill effeciency. She also reached double digits in digs, with 12.

Trista Benedict finished the night with seven kills. Kiya Chapin had six.

Maddy Lanford finished the night with 30 assists and 10 digs. Rachel Lewman led the team with 29 digs, and Lydia Moses had 15 digs.

The Comets were one weke removed from their three-set loss at Van Buren on Tuesday. Cardinal had their road game at WACO postponed due to illness at WACO schools.

Cardinal is now 3-4 overall, with all three losses coming in South Division league play. They will host their home tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21.
