Police respond to string of car burglaries in Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT - Two juvenile suspects are in custody facing charges of multiple counts of car burglary that occurred in Mt. Pleasant Tuesday, Nov. 26. Police apprehended the suspects by linking them to tools used during the crime.

Mt. Pleasant Police have been seeing a string of car burglaries in the area this year totaling more than 50.

Unrelated, police also responded to a burglary at the Quarter Store in Mt. Pleasant Wednesday, Nov. 20, which later was determined to be linked to several car burglaries earlier that morning.

There were three juvenile suspects, one female and two males, for the Nov. 20 burglaries according to statements released by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. The female suspect has been apprehended and warrants are out for the two male suspects.

Most cars involved in the burglaries had the doors unlocked according to reports. The Mt. Pleasant Police advises drivers to hide any valuables from plain sight and lock car doors to avoid being victims of crimes of opportunity.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
