KALONA — Kalona Mayor Mark Robe is encouraging all residents to wear masks to protect against the novel coronavirus.
At the City Council meeting Monday night, Robe signed a proclamation encouraging residents to wear face coverings and practice social distancing in order to keep each other safe and businesses operational.
“The City of Kalona encourages everyone through voluntary measures to social distance and wear face shields or cloth masks when they are in proximity of other people and that these practices continue until substantial progress in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 virus has been declared by public health officials,” the proclamation reads.
Kalona residents are not required to wear face masks. The proclamation only encourages their use.
