In several contested school board elections in Henry County, multiple incumbent candidates have lost their seats.
The New London Community School District saw six candidates running for three at-large school board member positions. Incumbents Jesse Howard and Travis Benz were in the race alongside newcomers Abby Young, Cristine Julian, Tasha Gipple and Tim Myers. Gipple lead the election, receiving 24.50 percent of the vote, followed by Myers with 21.12 percent and Howard at 20.97 percent. Incumbent Benz followed Howard, but only received 15.28 percent of the vote, failing to make the top three. In total, 1,302 votes were cast in the New London Community School District school board race.
WACO Community School District similarly saw incumbent Amy J. McLaughlin pushed out by newcomer Jared Achen, who received 52.51 percent of the vote. McLaughlin trailed behind Achen with 34.64 percent with Andrea McBeth coming in third with 12.85 percent. The three candidates were running for the District 3 seat. Newcomer Megan Waterhouse ran an uncontested race for the District 1 seat in WACO.
In the Winfield/Mt. Union School District, incumbents Daniel Schurr, Klay Edwards and Stacey Buffington will continue their roles at at-large board members.
