United Presbyterian Home news

A large group of Kerr Hall residents enjoyed a bountiful autumn meal when they held their monthly get together last week at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. Herb and Dorothy Yoder hosted the event in the Moore Family Dining Room. Herb welcomed the group with one of his famous stories and then gave the blessing for the meal.

Max and Jean Cousins enjoyed time with their grandson Dr. Ryan Whitaker on Wednesday. Ryan is currently visiting with his parents Stephanie and Richard Whitaker in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa which allowed him to make the visit to Washington.

Artist, Carol Ray is the first person to produce a pumpkin for the possibly first annual United Presbyterian Home Pumpkins on Display. Carol’s creation is a white pumpkin with the UPH logo of the sun on the horizon and initials in the United Presbyterian Home colors of purple and orange on a white pumpkin. All residents, staff and day care children are encouraged to submit a carved, painted or otherwise decorated gourd for display on the front porch during Halloween week. Entrees will not be judged, simply displayed for all to enjoy as we find new ways to celebrate the holiday.
