WASHINGTON — Movie watchers in Washington will soon have to find a new place to rent from. Family Video, located at 225 West Madison Street, will be closing at the end of the month.

Shane Zaiger, district manager for Family Video, said the decision to close the doors was a real estate decision. The Subway currently in the building will stay there and the rest of the building has been rented out by Dollar General. He said it will eventually become a Dollar General or Family Dollar store.

The last day for rentals was Sunday and everything else in the store is being sold. Candy, movies and fixtures are all available for purchase until the end of the month, Zaiger said.

Fortunately, employees will not be effected by the closure, he said. The store only had a couple of employees and both were planning to relocate to other jobs. The manager is also the manager of the Mt. Pleasant store and will move there instead.
