Crawfordsville news: Dennler crowned Teen Queen

Zoey Dennler, daughter of Darren and Karen Dennler, was crowned Teen Queen of the Lake Darling Saddle Club at the June 6 show. She showed a mini horse and rode in several classes. She did well placing in the top five in most classes she participated in.

She also took first in Teen poles.

The Lake Darling Saddle Club will be having shows throughout the summer. The next is July 12.

Sierra Gillis of Crawfordsville was recently awarded the Inaugural Mike Orris Memorial Scholarship by the Washington County Fair Association. She is a recent graduate of WACO Community High School and will be attending Northwest Missouri State University this fall majoring in Special Education. Sierra is the daughter of Anna Gillis and Roger and Jillian Gillis.

The Fair Association gave the scholarship in honor of Mike Orris, who was a volunteer member of the Washington County Fair Association for more than 50 years and passed away in 2019. He spent many hours volunteering .

Sierra has spent a lot of time volunteering at Camp Reece, where she served as a counselor since 2017. She also has volunteered with the Crawfordsville Community Club, the Washington County Relay for Life and Hats for Heroes. She has been involved in church activities, including Vacation Bible School and is a member of the Crooked Creek 4-H Club and serves on the Washington County 4-H County Council.

She also just recently became a Washington County Fair Queen contestant.
