President Debbie began the meeting by passing out two picture puzzles for everyone to solve that had Thanksgiving messages for everyone to find and this proved to be quite entertaining.

Debbie Lowe gave the meditation”Freedom, a Guide to Prayer,” 1st Corinthians 4-7. President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read together. Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the Sept. 19, 2019 meeting and they were accepted as read. Pat Miller gave the treasurer’s report and the report of the Harvest Supper. It will be filed for audit. It was decided to give money from the Blessing Boxes to Samaritan’s Purse.

CORRESPONDENCE: There was a thank-you note from the Lions Club for the supper served them in September and also from the Lorraine Suter family for the luncheon served following her funeral.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Local Activities: the committee will purchase a stock pot for use at our dinners and it was reported that the stove has been checked over and some parts ordered.

DORCAS: Wilma reported their meeting had been called off the day before, Monday, Nov. 11, due to inclement weather. She reported some lap robes will be donated to schools and several taken to the McCreedy home.

CARDS, FLOWERS AND GIFTS: Many cards had been sent.

STUDY & DEVOTIONS/MISSION OUTREACH: Regular offering and Least Coin Offering was taken, as well as the Fellowship of the Least Coin was read in unison. Clarissa reviewed the Prayer Calendar and reported a staff person had a birthday this month. The 2020 program books were discussed.

OLD BUSINESS: The stuffing for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner was discussed and Jason will find someone to make it and deliver it to Wayland, since he will be gone.

NEW BUSINESS: The Treasury was assessed and a motion was made, seconded and carried that the proposed guidelines for giving for 2020 will remain the same, except for Dorcas and kitchen supplies. Two evening meetings will be incorporated in 2020, so as to include those who work during the day.

UPCOMING EVENTS: Next regular meeting: Dec. 10, 2019. A Christmas luncheon will be held with time and place to be announced. Pauline will have meditations and Cathy will be hostess. Dorcas will meet again: Nov. 25, Dec. 9 and possibly Dec. 23.

Work Committees: November: Rachel and Pauline; December: Cathy and Ann. Following a motion to adjourn, the Closing Creed was read together. Deb thanked Pat for hostessing and closed with the quote “We should seize every opportunity to give encouragement. Encouragement is oxygen to the soul” and also with Proverbs 15:23.

In church news: The United Church of Crawfordsville will be the pick up point for The “Sharing Christmas “ project since families will be coming here for the food pantry. The Parish Council of our church voted for the U.C. of C. to sponsor two families. Volunteers will be asked to come help put this together.

The Membership and Mission Committee is asking for help in supplying the Crawfordsville Elementary School with mittens, hats and scarves for those who come to school without. The mitten tree will be up until Nov. 30. An item needed, as well at the school is hand lotion (pump style) for students coming in from recess on cold days.

The Lions Club will hold a Blood Drive, Monday, Dec. 2 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the United Church of Crawfordsville. You may contact Larry Fletcher at 319-461-1564 to donate.

The Washington County Health nurse will be present to do free diabetes checks for those interested.

The Community Thanksgiving dinner will be held at the WACO High School from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone welcome. It’s not too late to sign up for deliveries. Call 319-217-2456 or 319-461-0576 to order meals.
